Marketing and web agencies are being asked by their clients for AI chatbots, voice agents and automation. Most agencies do not want to send that work elsewhere and lose the relationship. The question is how to offer it under their own name without becoming a software company overnight.
There are three realistic routes.
1. Build it yourself
You hire or train developers, choose AI providers, build the product and run it. You keep full control and the full margin. You also carry hosting, security, updates, provider changes and support at night. For most agencies this only makes sense once AI work is a large share of revenue.
2. Resell a white-label platform
A software provider runs the product; you sell it under your brand, set your own prices and bill your own clients, while the provider bills you a wholesale rate. You get to market quickly and keep the client relationship. The risks are dependence on the provider and less control over the roadmap, so check who stores your clients' data, where, and what happens to it if you leave.
3. Refer and share revenue
You introduce clients to a specialist who delivers and bills them directly, and you receive a share of the revenue. It needs the least effort, but the client relationship is shared and the work is not under your brand.
Questions to ask any white-label provider
Where is client data hosted, and under which jurisdiction? Who is the data processor, and is there a data processing agreement you can pass on to your clients? Can your clients log in under your domain and brand? How are support requests handled, and who answers them? What are the wholesale terms, and what happens to your clients if the agreement ends?
Agency development is a different thing
White-label software should not be confused with white-label development, where a partner builds websites or plugins that you deliver as your own work. Both are useful, but one is an ongoing product and the other is project capacity.
We offer both: white-label WordPress development for agencies, and partnership options around our own products. If you are weighing the options, the Partners page is the place to start the conversation.
